this is a pretty interesting game with a cool gameplay loop, but sadly it was too repetitive and irritating to keep me engaged all the way through.
the visuals were honestly pretty good; i love how the title screen looks and the character sprites are very nicely designed! the tileset was a bit confusing but it was unique enough to stand out in my mind. and the flashlight effect is probably really simple to do but i really liked it! the story was intriguing, and though the scrolling text at the beginning was too fast to pay attention to (in my opinion), i still wanted to know what would happen and where the story was going.
however, the actual gameplay was my biggest issue. while the disappearing ghost is a neat idea, it felt more annoying than anything with its super high frequency of reappearance, and it made exploring and figuring out what you're supposed to do kind of tedious. the music that plays, which is actually pretty cool and creepy, also got repetitive after a while (also idk if this was intentional but sometimes when the music starts playing and you stay still, the ghost appears in your same tile and doesn't kill you?). it all made me give up without having really completed anything. which sucks, because this game clearly has interesting ideas and i wanted to know how the story would continue.
but hey, from your replies to other comments it looks like you guys are taking feedback into account and working on updating the game, so props for that! :D i'm sure with some more tuning and establishing clear objectives for the player, this game could end up being really good!!
First of all, thank you very much for your feedback! We are reading all the comments and working to update the game as soon as possible. Once the update is complete and the Game Jam is over, we will upload the new version, incorporating the suggested improvements. I'm glad you liked the game's premise, and we will do our best to make the update as good as possible, focusing on the player's enjoyment and experience!
